Nova
A Gamma-Ray Burst is the most powerful known explosion to humanity, occurring when a massive star collapses in on itself.
The resulting shockwave, known as a Supernova, explodes outwards creating a black hole, beaming particles outwards in opposite directions at the speed of light.
Inspiration
This rarely observed phenomenon is the inspiration for the form of NOVA, a bronze bangle with 24k Rose Gold plating, hand forged with an anticlastic shape reminiscent of the Gamme-Ray Bursting from opposite directions of a black hole.
Fabrication
Nova was initially fabricated by joining a series of organic bronze plates to a base before gently forging the entire ring over a mandrel to produce the anticlastic shape.

3D Modeling
Years later, after relocating to New York, I decided to recreate Nova while learning to use Blender 3D. Saving the paper pattern was a fortunate choice, allowing me to recreate the piece exactly, while familiarizing myself with a variety of Blenders design tools.
