About
I am a sculptor and fabricator who feels most at home in a workshop, where making is hands-on, collaborative, and material driven. My sculptural work balances planned structure with improvisation, while my custom work relies on a more formal, iterative design/build process.
Materials & Practice
I work primarily in steel, with additional use of bronze, wood, and occasional found elements. Informed by early training in architectural blacksmithing and a longstanding interest in science fiction and natural form, my practice is grounded in hot forging, welding, and hands-on fabrication, alongside ongoing exploration of other materials and processes.
Method
Pieces typically begin as rough sketches translated at full scale, often in chalk on the shop floor, to establish structure. From there, the final form is developed through improvisation and direct making, responding to balance, connection, and material behavior as the work resolves.
Form & Finish
Many works suggest motion while remaining architecturally constructed, allowing function and anatomy to overlap without a fixed narrative. Surface and finish are treated as extensions of the material itself, favoring polished steel, natural patinas, and refined wood over applied color. Alongside finished pieces, I maintain studies and maquettes, including plasticine work, to refine organic form and implied movement.
